two or more questions...

1. What is a luxury? Is deodorant a luxury? How should we think about these things (ie things that may or may not be luxuries)?

2. Do you floss daily? Does your dentist make you feel like you committed the unforgivable sin when he rebukes you for not flossing? How do you feel about flossing?

More on Sex...

So, the other way that Terry and I will serve the group will be by continually giving you information that we find helpful surrounding the topic of sex. :)

I saw this taste and see article on the Desiring God website...and thought I'd share.

Click here for the article at the DG website!

Sorry...I couldn't fit it all on one line and am inept when it comes to computers, blogging, etc. and couldn't figure out how to make the font smaller. So you'll just have to copy and paste twice.

ministry opportunity

I was asked by Dan Holst last Sunday to be a part of the leadership for this summer's Wednesday night park ministry, specifically leading worship.  I originally had in mind leading with just Emily (which I still want to do), but I also had the idea of having our small group lead worship.  What do you think of that?

I thought we could all participate in some way with all the gifts present.  We have keyboards, guitars, vocals, what else would we need?  I think it would be a great way our small group could do some ministry together!

Would love to hear your thoughts.

upcoming things

We need to get some dates on the calendar for our climbing day and other things.  I would like to do a guys backpacking trip this summer.  I was thinking the guys could hike the Superior hiking trail whilst the ladies stayed at Nana and Papa's.

the Carlsons in Grand Marais

We are in Grand Marais this weekend for some refreshment and relaxation.  We arrived late on Thursday night.  This morning was beautiful!  I woke up at 7:00 and had about an hour to sit and reflect whilst gazing upon the beauty of the Lord though Lake Superior.  To quote Terry, "It really is a great lake!"

I've already been on a brief hike today.  I walked the shore north to where the Fall River dumps into the lake.  The river is more swollen than I have ever seen.  Normally you can walk the banks up about a 1/2 mile, but not right now.  There are numerous falls along the way, and they are all throwing mist clouds into the air that feel very refreshing when it hits your face.

Soon we will travel into town to visit Nana at work, and perhaps do some hiking as a family.  We also hope to find some good spots to do some bouldering.  We brought our climbing gear for that purpose.  There is a nice little cove along the lake just north of the house where there is some good traversing.  The rock face is negative so it adds a nice challenge.

One other thing we get to look forward to is a diving up into the north wilderness to retrieve Garry's truck.  On Wednesday he set out to do some moose shed hunting.  After a full day of hunting while he was driving back, he decided to take a drive down the Shoe Lake Road to look for an actual moose sighting.  The road was never plowed through the winter, so it still had the lingering effects of winter on it.  Long story short, he eventually got stuck and had to start back toward home on foot!  Mind you, this is in the middle of no where, at about 8:00 PM.  Shortly after he began walking it started to rain, and thus his prayers increased.  About 22 miles and many prayers later, a sheriffs deputy "happened" to be driving that route (which he said he never does).  Needless to say, Garry was relieved to have a ride back home.  I think he finally got to bed around 4 am.  I hope I'm that adventurous at age 63!

Here's a picture of the mountain man himself!

Have a good weekend!
